AB Friday. One Photo Focus (June).

Once a month, the After Before Friday Forum community picks one photo to edit. June’s One Photo Focus was a picture taken by Stacy Fisher, who hosts the challenge on her site Visual Venturing. So as the name suggests, the forum of photographers takes and edits that one photo. The original photo is seen below.

I tried to think of how I could make this edit a bit different, make it original. So I decided to apply the poster edge filter (with the saturation decreased completely) to one layer of the photo. But that wasn’t enough. It needed more. To add a little pizazz, I added the glowing edges filter to another layer of the photo. After that I turned the opacity down to 40 percent and raised the saturation by 11 percent. After that, I merged the two layers and then bumped up the contrast 100 percent and brought down the brightness by 50 percent. And bam! That is how I came up with this edited version below?

  1. Because these Victorian homes are so elaborate, I think the processing you chose really points that out and was a great choice.

    1. I would like to say it was a strategic choice, but I really kept playing around and around until I found something I liked. Glad it worked! 🙂

  2. There is something so wonderfully soothing about your image, Michelle! Perhaps it’s because, as Stacey said above, it leaves in just enough saturation to emphasize the interesting lines and angles of this great house. Whatever it is, I really do love what you’ve done! Thanks for being a mainstay of 1PF and ABF 😀
