Focus. Off Subject, Yet Cool.

Focus is critical in photography. If you miss that factor, it is really hard to make an impression with your shot. However, when you take a photograph where a portion of the picture is out of focus on purpose – it can be kind of cool.

Below are a few ‘out-of-focus’ shots I took at a 50th Anniversary party. You can see that one object is in focus, while another is not. There are also two shots groups below that show the focus part flipped around. These alternating views show how the different focal points change the picture.

Sometimes playing  with the focal point can make a photo really stand out. Other times, maybe not so much. It all just depends on what you are trying to say in your photos.
