One of my little pleasures is to stumble upon new places while on a road trip. Sometimes the places I find are grand. Other times…not so much. However, these fixer-uppers still have a sense of wonder all their own.
When I see structures like this, I cannot help but wonder about their history. Who lived there? Where did they go? Where they nice? What happened in this home?
Most times, these questions will not get answered. Like this time. I was driving along and just stopped to grab this quick shot along a rural Georgia road. I didn’t note what town I was in to try and research it. So, if there is information on this place, I wouldn’t know where to look.
Regardless, there is a story in these abandoned places. But maybe, it just might be a story that should not be told.

Me too. I just wish I could wander around them all, but some are so creepy and then there is that whole trespassing nonsense, lol. It should not apply for photographers, don’t you think?

Long abandoned by the looks of it but yes, the stories behind how and when they were built and how they got this way are what makes them so interesting. Great shots 🙂

Yes, it all makes we wonder about so many things! Like who owns this property and why do they let it sit? Is there a reason they are not utilizing the property for something else and does that reason have to do with them not taking the useless building down? So many questions. Thanks! I was on a road trip this past few days and saw even more. Some I saw an opportunity to photograph, but others…I was too scared to do it alone.

I know exactly what you mean. When I travel around, I have so many unanswered questions. Buildings such as these are haunting, there must be many tales within the walls…

I wonder those same things. Very very rarely do I walk into them. I only photo from outside and through windows…I think I am afraid of getting trapped so I leave quick exits an option.

I don’t know why but I think the unkept doors are my favorite.

I see so many that I want to photograph. However, some seem more accessible than others to photograph without intruding onto private property.
