Depth. Seeing Close But Looking Far.

Depth and framing are critical in photography. And when they are combined together, they can be powerful. In the shots below, I used a shallow depth of field and framed my pictures by the ‘rule of thirds.’

The shallow depths makes all the back ground blur, sometimes almost turning into muted bokeh backgrounds. This makes the subject really stand out.

The rule of thirds works by lining up focal points, like a grid. This means that the subject does not need to be in the center of the picture, but rather in one of the intersecting lines that you would have if you divide the photo up into thirds both vertically and horizontally. This creates a more compelling framing.
