A few weeks ago, I was on a rode trip to the fair with my boyfriend. Being the wonderful man that he is, he not only tolerates my photography addiction, but actually supports it.
This day was a perfect example. As we were driving along, he made a sudden change in directions. He spotted a lovely brick church with some grand doors. He thought they would be great for the Thursday Doors Challenge, which is hosted by Norm 2.0.
So we slowed down, and I took a couple of shots from the road. (He did offer to stop but him and I both know, if I started wandering around with my camera, we would only delay our arrival to the fair even more.)
Now, going the opposite direction of the fair, we had to go around the block to turn around on the really busy county highway. Fortunately though, our little trip around the block was just a discovery for a few more door shots from the truck window.
Now, I do wonder if anyone was in these houses and seeing some random truck drive by with a woman hanging out of the window with a camera. I would have to bet their first thought was not…oh, they must be photographing my door. Yeah, probably not.
Either way, they have some grand structures in that little town.
And just for fun, here is one more shot from that little trip around the block. It is from one of the churches. However, the shot didn’t really turn out well due to the power lines and pole. It was just too distracting. So, I played around with it to make it an abstract.
If you liked these doors and want to see more, make sure you click on over to Norm 2.0’s page. He will tell you all about his challenge and show you some pretty amazing places in the meantime.

Our generation used to say, Keep on Truckin! Great shots and the ending abstract was cool!

I’ve heard that! Reminds me of Smokey and the Bandit. Thank you so much. I was happy how they turned out considering I was in a moving truck, lol.

Nice photography! I love that last one! How many beers does it take to make such a creation?

Thank you! lol-the key in creating abstracts with beer is do you still like them when you are sober?

I love getting photos from the road while traveling. The hard hart for me, is not knowing more about the buildings, but I figure I can always go back if the urge hits hard in the future. The abstract is pretty cool.

Thanks! Yeah, it is much easier to get shots from the car when I am the passenger, lol.

Ha ha. I’d like to say I don’t understand, but, truth be told, hmmm.

LOL- I have done a few while driving too. I will say the better ones are when I stopped though. Now, if I was looking for an abstract, blurry or unrecognizable photo-driving pictures are my game!

Brick churches for you this week too – I love it 😀
The one with the white doors and columns has a real small town country-style vibe to it. Some nice finds – your fella has a good eye for doors.

It definitely appeared like a small town that had a busy road built in the middle of it. Between the churches and those few nice houses, there was less than a dozen other buildings of substance around.

A man with a discerning eye, Michelle. As much as I enjoyed the other photos, I really like that last one!
